Community Programme

A new initiative for 2007, the club now runs a community programme. We travel out to community groups across London teaching people, over the course of two and a half hours, the basic skills of resuscitation and first aid that will enable them to save lives. We also attend various community events and festivals promoting our courses and offering on-the-spot training. The courses we currently offer are (click to find out more):

  • Community Life Support (see below)
  • Save a Baby's Life
  • Community Life Support

This course is designed for individuals with no previous first aid or life support experience. It aims to enable participants to treat an unconscious adult who may or may not be breathing. These techniques can be critical in ensuring that casualties remain alive, and buy vital time for the emergency services to respond. The course then goes on to show how to treat two of the most easily preventable causes of unconsciousness: choking and severe bleeding.

    Interested in organising a course?

The ULU Lifesaving Club could run either of these courses for you. All we need is two and a half hours (allowing for a tea break), and enough space to allow participants to practice. We would provide resuscitation manikins, and handouts for all involved. Furthermore, all participants receive a certificate of attendance from the Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS). All we need is four weeks notice, in order to order materials from RLSS headquarters. Please fill in the below application form to help us start organising your course.
